So I haven’t updated here in almost half a year, which in fact came as a bit of surprise to me. In response, here’s an update:
It snowed and we made a snowman!
As an aside, that’s a very disgusting ashtray doing top hat duty. I was particularly proud of that bit of innovative thinking.
To answer the curious –we’re in Lexington, renting a small apartment, dealing with James’ newfound unemployment. Things are neither good nor bad — they are very much in flux and apt to change at any moment. James is going through some personal stuff, so basically all I can do is roll with it and see what happens.
I’m going to try to start updating the blog at least weekly, perhaps on Tuesdays? I’m getting back into my knitting pretty hardcore and am hoping to start posting a few patterns, so expect a bit of that. I’m also trying to trim down our food budget quite a bit, so expect a few quick and cheap recipes, as well. What else? Who knows.

Based on a few of the things you were attending on Facebook I thought you might be, but I always concluded I was probably confused. We should absolutely meet up, I would really love that. I will shoot you a message after your exams are done.

Welcome back to Lexington. Sock club is on Saturday – we’re doing white elephant – sock yarn style with enough yarn for a pair of socks. No pattern this month. I hope you can come!

I tried to come last time, but some family commitments got in the way… I’m actually still working on the first Twisted, so I’ll probably bring those. I’m definitely planning on coming, so I’ll see you then!

Another one bites the dust! Americans really don’t last long in Slovenia. I’m headed back to the states myself. Can’t wait!
Hope all’s well and that it gets better soon.

Headed back to NYC? I must have said so before, but I can’t imagine going from New York to Ljubljana. Is this going to be a long term thing for you?
And I must say, it was only I who did not last long. James only came back because he had to… he thought it was the most wonderful, magical land on God’s green Earth. He’s been saying he needs to “go back to Europe” –by which he means Slovenia — but my feeling is, saying that and then heading to Ljubljana is like a European longing for the States and heading to Des Moines. It just doesn’t really compute for me!

Yeah back to NYC. Definitely long term. This is total Escape from Alcatraz for me, my journey is going to be harrowing because of the family ties, but it’s only one way. I’ll come visit (since I am, of course, married to a Slovene) but I ain’t living here again.
Ha ha, Des Moines! Well it is the heartland…. You can how I imagine how I feel being stuck here in Radovljica. More like middle of nowhere Alaska or something.
Wishing you both happy holidays and a magical new year!
